“Over the Rainbow”の曲だけは以前のエントリでご紹介していましたが、IZの”In This Life”を日本語訳したエントリが結構アクセスを集めていたので、イズラエル・カマカヴィヴォオレの有名どころを和訳してみます。

“In This Life”と違って、IZの”Somewhere Over The Rainbow”は翻訳されたものが、探せばネット上で結構見つかりますね。

ハワイ語ではなく英語の歌詞なので、何となく意味は分かるものの、しっかり日本語と照らし合わせて聴くと、また違った発見があります。

“What a wonderful world”は、Louis Armstrong(ルイ・アームストロング)のしわがれ声と独特のビブラートが有名ですね。
映画「グッドモーニングベトナム」ではDJに扮したロビン・ウィリアムズが「偉大なるサッチモ」と紹介しています。
